Are you doing temporary work on your home that includes painting, restoration or removal of asbestos? Then you’ll want to consider using an air scrubber during the work. An air scrubber can remove particles, gases and chemicals from your indoor air while the project is ongoing. We can help you with the installation and use of an air scrubber – just give us a call!
Valleywide Cooling offers comprehensive services for both air purifiers and air scrubbers.
If you are installing or replacing an air purifier in your home or business, you have three choices:
What are the differences? An ion generator disperses negative ions into the air that attach to particles in your home’s indoor air. These attached particles are attracted to your home’s surfaces, and they are removed when the surfaces are cleaned. An electrostatic precipitator also uses negative ions, but uses them in an enclosed chamber known as an ionization section. A small fan draws your home’s air into the precipitator where particles are charged. As the newly charged particles move through the chamber, they are collected on oppositely–charged metal plates. These plates need to be cleaned every three months to ensure the effectiveness of the unit.
Lastly, a UV air purifier is used to address biological contaminants. Unlike the other two air purifiers, a UV air purifier is actually UV lighting, so the purification comes from UV light bulbs. These bulbs are typically installed in your home’s ductwork or over the evaporator coils of your air conditioner. Which type of air purifier is best for you? This is something you can determine with the help of one of our indoor air quality pros.
Air purifiers are made to work with your existing HVAC system, so it can be hard to know when yours is ready to be replaced. Here are some signs to keep in mind if you think your existing air purifier is on its way out:
